1972
The Cubs switch to double-knit pullovers. The road jersey sees the most change in this one year style. Apparently the center number placement was an error by Wilson that Cubs management liked, for one year.

1973-75
Road jersey number moves to the left side, red accent and white trim dropped.

1976
Road jerseys are now powder blue. Home and road jerseys both have a Cubs Centennial patch on the left sleeve and the NL Centennial patch on the right.
Wilson
The actual road jersey in 1976 had a Cubs Centennial patch on the left sleeve (see photo) not the bear patch.
1977
Bear patch returns to both jerseys.

Reissued for 1977.
1978
The Cubs add white pinstripes to the road jersey. I can't help thinking 1970's dinner jacket.

1979-81
Blue circle around the "C" gets thicker, and a tiny registered trademark insignia is added. New "angry bear" sleeve patch. NOB added on road jerseys.

1982-89
Thankfully a new, and rather impressive, road jersey.

Rawlings
1990
Pullovers give way to button-downs. Road jersey returns to grey and has small lettering and front numbers.
Rawlings
All Star game patch worn in 1990 on both jerseys (barely visible on this home shirt).
1991-92
Road jersey front lettering gets taller, back number becomes red with blue and white trim, and a second "Cubs" sleeve patch added.

1993
Home jerseys gain NOB, and red trim around the numbers.
Russell Athletic
1994-96
Sleeve trim dropped on home jersey. Sleeve patch bear is no longer "angry". New road jersey....well...four letters really isn't enough for cursive script on a baseball jersey. But at least there's only one sleeve patch. Alternate jersey debuts, and another cap appears.
Russell Athletic
NOB has been removed.
1997-98
The road jersey lettering returns to a look reminiscent of past styles. Sleeve patch and alternate jersey logo changed to a bear walking inside a "C".
Russell Athletic
1999-2004
Letters on road jersey get thinner.
