1998
The team redesigns its logo. The birds change shape a bit, their legs get thinner, their beaks (more accurately) change to red. "Cardinals" gets a bit thicker. Front numbers are dropped. Sunday home bird on bat alternate cap debuts.

The bird's beaks return to yellow. Front numbers, a bit smaller now, return. Looks like the bird's beak stayed red on the alternate cap in 1999 though.

The birds are tweaked slightly, again. Their beaks get longer and the chest is puffed out a bit more.

Logo is refreshed as computer graphics make greater accuracy possible. Front numbers are made smaller. Bird on bat cap worn at home on Sundays, a new Saturday home alternate cream "St. Louis" jersey debuts. Red cap now worn both home and road, navy cap used on the road but less often than red.
