Washington Senators Uniform History (1961 Expansion Edition)


MLB expanded to Minnesota and Los Angeles for the 1961 season. But Washington owner Calvin Griffith requested and was allowed to move the Senators to Minnesota instead, becoming the Twins. The 1961 expansion Senators have minimal success and after the 1971 season relocate to Dallas.

1961-62

Home jerseys only have zippers.

1963-67

A return to the 1959-60 design, but in red with navy trim instead of navy/red trim. Zippers banished.

1968

Accent color of undershirts, socks & cap changes from navy to red.

1969-70

Pinstripes are dropped from home jerseys.

1971. Cap logo slant is reversed.

This 1970 jersey was reused in 1971. 1971 Senators jerseys are rare as most were converted to Rangers jerseys for '72 spring training.

After the 1971 season the team relocates to Dallas.
