Players could choose to use jerseys from either manufacturer.


Script font on home returns to the 1943-76 style, and "San Francisco" returns on roadies. Sleeve cuff stripes modified. Piping removed from road. Cap logo modified.

MLB 125th anniversary patch

Jackie Robinson patch worn in 1997.

Candlestick Park patch worn 1999.


Home jersey changes to cream, gold shadow added to lettering outline, NOB dropped. Road jersey lettering is changed to standard block. Number font changed on home and road. Collar trim added to both jerseys. Inaugural season patch for Pac Bell Stadium worn on home jersey, "SF" sleeve patch worn on road jersey.

Piping added to road jersey. An alternate road jersey, similar to the 1983-93 look, is introduced. Sleeve patch changed on home orange alternate jersey.

SF road jersey is worn with both caps.


Home orange alternate jersey gets piping, the wordmark used in 1978-82, and a new sleeve patch.


SF road jersey worn only with the orange-billed cap in 2014.


A second home alternate black jersey with no NOB joins the set mainly used Saturdays. Orange billed cap is worn with the orange jersey on occasion, and no longer with the home white jersey. Orange jersey mainly worn at home on Fridays. SF road jerseys are for Sundays.



Flex Base uniform system debuts. Orange billed cap now used only with black jersey a few times.
