Colorado Rockies Caps History


The Colorado Rockies joined MLB in 1993.

1991-92 Retail

The team's logo was unveiled in July 1991 and these caps (without the MLB logo) date from that year. The Rockies introduced both Sports Specialties and New Era caps to retail.

Sports Specialties

1993-99

The team begins play.

New Era

Raised embroidery appears in 1996.

2000-03

Purple-billed cap now used on the road.

2004-06

In 2004 the Rockies are early adopters of black undervisors with the introduction of an alternate all-purple cap. Note the black undervisor is "flipped over", so that the edge of the visor is black.

2007-12

Polyester caps with black under visors debut.

New Era

Beyond 2007 the purple alternate cap is rarely worn but remains an official alternate cap.

2013-present

Purple cap dropped.
